Prayer To Tyr

Eversince the beginning of time, people have been fascinated with the stories of gods and goddesses. They like to know how these gods lived their life. They wondered if they could be as brave or as powerful as those gods and goddesses. Even today, most of us continue to live such fantasy lives with the help of movies and other entertainments that encourage such unrealistic fantasies. However, it is important to realize that there is one god whose reputation is unparalleled among all. He is known as Tyr and his legend dates back to a time before recorded history. Some even say that he was there at the very beginning of time.

Tyr was the chief god in Norse mythology and the ruler of Asgard. Please remember he is a powerful god, do not take his name lightly. Do not take his power lightly.

I call on thee, Tyr, Lord of Justice and Law. I thank thee for thy guidance, patience, and understanding. I invoke thy sacred name to bring justice to me and my people.

“I invoke thee, O great Tyr, with the truly mighty hammer of your supremacy. I beseech thee with the power of your nobility and prudence that thou let loose upon the land of Midgard, thy blessing purifying all who stand before you in need.

Prayer To Tyr

I stand in the sunset, O Lord of Swords,

Seeking your wisdom in the last ray of light

Falling from between the clouds as scarlet pools

Like blood upon the ground.

I face the act of honor that may break me,

May cast me out from clan and kin,

May cleave a gulf between us.

I have turned my face from this doing,

Times uncountable, yet still I am drawn back.

Time turning, I now accept what must be done,

And my resolve is as iron, but iron unsmelted.

Lord of Swords, I pray you give me the fire of courage

To lay behind my life, my raw honor,

To sustain me as I am pressed through this forging.

One-handed God who does what must be done,

Grim and uncompromising, keep my spine straight,

My head high, my eyes forward on this path.

Hail, God of honor! I pledge to you

That if you bestow this gift, I will use it

Only on a path that I will never need to live down.

Give me that gift which is the last gift,

To keep going in the face of all fear,

To do right in the face of all necessity,

To walk unswerving through fire and blood and steel.

Prayer To Tyr

Hail unto Tyr, God of Justice, a child of your people calls to you.

You befriended the wolf Fenris, and when came time to bind him, you placed your hand in his mouth as a sign of trust. When he could not escape, he took your hand as payment.

I come to you, though we are not close, though I do not often speak with you. It is rare I come before you, Lord of Justice, for I do not feel comfortable in the realms of law. But I come to you know, not for myself, but for those who depend on me. By my will and advice, we trusted one we thought friend, and one we made family. But as the wolf Fenris did bite you, this one has turned against us, and left us in a position of great peril. Were it only I, Tyr, I would not come to thee. But others have come to harm, family and kin of mine, because I trusted the one who has betrayed and lied to us. Misfortune has befallen us, and I would not see others pay for my mistakes.

I ask thee, Lord of Justice, to bring forth Justice. Take action against the one who betrayed us, who broke oaths sworn to us. We acted with honor, and were met with dishonor. I ask you, Lord Tyr, grant us justice, so that others may not be brought down or brought harm because of me.

Hail unto Tyr, God of Justice.

Hear me Tyr, before this fight
That many foes, I shall in, your name, smite.

Skilled skirmisher of single-hand
And trustee for the Wolf of Fenris
Grant me the benefit of your past wars
So suffer I shall not, even scratches

Unmatch-ed are your skills of war
That unto me, I beg you grant
With your gift, unrivalled, I’ll be through battle
With wounds, nary; At most, scant.

Tyr please hear my prayer ‘fore war
Arm me with fatal wisdom
As all do cower ‘fore your sword
That cleaves both man and kingdom

Heill Tyr!
