Prayer To St Alphonsa

Saint Alphonsa (12th January, 1907 – 28th July, 1946) is a Roman Catholic saint from India. Alphonsa was born as Asha at Paravur, in Kerala state, India. She was named after her aunt, who had been married exactly a year before her birth. Her mother died soon after giving birth to her and she was raised by her father and his second wife. Her father worked as a labourer and did not earn enough money to give Alphonsa an adequate education. So she was given few opportunities to have formal education like other children in India.

This prayer to St Alphonsa was composed by a writer and spiritual expert named Nun Josephine having its first part on the life and living of St Alphonsa while its second part is used against any stress, depression or temptation.

St Alphonsa also known as Blessed Mother Theresa is the Wonder Worker of India. She was a great example of true devotion and piety. Her legacy still exists in form of her life and teachings, it influences all generations and can be an ideal role model to reach holiness in our own day to day life.

Our Lady of Good Health, also called Our Lady of La Naval de Manila and Our Lady of Peñafrancia, is a title of the Blessed Virgin Mary as conceived in the Roman Catholic tradition. Within this tradition she is broadly venerated in two different ways; as patroness of the Catholic faithful who pray for intercession to heal illnesses of their children, and as patroness of those individuals and groups who are involved in the caring ministry of healthcare and medicine.

Prayer To St Alphonsa

Oh, Blessed Alphonsa, you have been graciously chosen from our midst to be united with Jesus Christ, our savior, in the misery of his passion, death and resurrection. You have grown to the heights of holiness and have been crowned with heavenly glory.

Help us in our trials and tribulations. Oh! Daughter of sufferings, obtain for us the grace to lead a holy life, following your example, in total submission to the will of God. Be with us, transforming all our sorrows into a holy sacrifice in union with Christ Crucified, in reparation to our sins, for the sanctification and salvation of the whole world.
Amen

Dear Lord, we thank You for giving us Your servant, St. Alphonsa, as an example of holiness. Help us to imitate the life of faithfulness to You that she lived, from the time of her grief-filled childhood until her death.

St. Alphonsa, you lost your mother when you were very young. Because of her early death, your life was filled with difficulty. But you sought to serve God in holiness, despite your suffering.

Please bring my petitions before God Whom you served!

You were raised by your aunt and educated by your uncle. And even though your family members did not understand your calling to religious life, you pursued God’s calling faithfully.

Pray for me, that I may always do all I can to pursue God’s calling in my life. Pray that I may never allow sadness or difficulty to deter me from serving God.
