Prayer For Reverence

Prayer for reverence is a series of prayers to bring you closer to God. It is a practice that helps us become more mindful and respectful of all things. The more you pray and practice, the more you will learn about how to communicate with God in a way that makes sense to you, and that will provide deep peace throughout your day.

In this life, prayer is like a lamp we carry around. A lamp is a source of light, and just as the light of prayer can illuminate our lives, so can all of our deeds. Resources like “prayer of reverence to God,” “morning prayer to exalt God,” and “prayer offering glory to God” are among the most helpful.

Prayer for Reverence: a blog about the need for reverence during prayer and how to incorporate it into your prayer

Prayer for reverence

I pray for reverence, for a sense of awe and wonder at the world around me.

I pray that I may see the world as You see it: filled with beauty and meaning, and imbued with Your presence.

I pray that I may feel Your presence in the stillness of my heart and the gentle touch of Your Spirit upon my soul.

I pray that I may worship You not only in the grandeur of nature, but also in the quiet routine of my everyday life.

We are gathered here today to pray for the reverence of [name]

We pray that he/she will be able to hear and understand the words of the Holy Spirit, so that he/she can better listen to and obey Jesus Christ. We pray that he/she will have a sense of awe and wonder in their own life as they encounter God’s creation in all its beauty. We pray that he/she may reflect this joy onto others, rather than being distracted by the things of this world. We pray that he/she will always remember who they are and whose they are, so that they remain steadfastly dedicated to serving others with unselfish love.

In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen

Dear God,

Thank you for this day and the opportunity to live it. I am grateful for my life, my family, and my friends. Thank you for giving me the gift of reverence and allowing me to experience it in my own way.

I pray that I may be a blessing to others today by showing them reverence through my actions.

Help me to be kind and considerate, even when others are unkind or inconsiderate to me. Let me see the best in others, even when it seems like everyone else is seeing only their worst behavior. Let me continue to see your grace and mercy in all things, even when it seems as if there is no hope left for anyone or anything around us.

Keep us safe from harm today as we go about our daily lives with full hearts but also full bellies—physical hunger is not the only hunger we must fulfill in order to be fulfilled ourselves!

Dear Lord,

We come to you today in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We ask you to hear our prayers and look upon us with favor.

We pray for those who are sick or suffering. May they find comfort in your healing grace. May their hearts be filled with your love and peace.

We pray for those who have lost loved ones recently. May they find comfort in knowing that their loved ones are now at peace with you forever.

And finally, we pray for those who are lonely or alone because they have been abandoned by their family or friends. May they always know that they have a family here on earth as well as in heaven, and that we will always be here for them whenever they need us.

O God, who has given us a share in your own nature, and so made us capable of that reverent love which is the fulfilling of the law, grant us yet more fully to know you as our Creator and Preserver; that we may live in grateful obedience to your will, and be always ready to do your bidding.

Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
