Prayer For New Year’s Day

Prayer for new year’s day: God, it’s New Year’s Day. According to the Gregorian calendar, it’s 2017. It’s the beginning of a new year for us. This can be an exciting time or it can be filled with worry. There are so many things that we don’t know about the future. But I am going to ask you to consider something this morning that will help you prepare for the future in a very practical way. A new year is a fresh start. It’s a chance to redecorate and get the new look you’ve been dreaming of. But sometimes, this is easier said than done. After all, with so many things on our minds, it can be difficult to muster the courage to make the changes we’ve been wanting to make for so long.

A New Year's Prayer~ | Heartprints of God

Dear Lord,

We pray for our friends and family who are not with us on this new year’s day. We pray that they are happy and healthy, wherever they may be. We pray that you will guide them through their lives and keep them close to your heart.

We also pray for those who have passed away. We know they are in heaven, but we still miss them terribly. Please comfort their families as they continue on without them here on earth.

Finally, we ask you to watch over us as we start this new year off right—to make good choices and do what is right by others. We thank you for all the blessings you’ve given us in the past year and hope that this one will be even better than last year!

Lord, we thank you for the new year.

We pray that you will guide us in our decisions and actions and help us to remember that we are in this world together with all of our brothers and sisters.

Thank you for the opportunity to make a difference in our community and the world.

Dear God,

Thank you for the gift of another year.

May we use it well, and may it bring us closer to you.

We pray that all who suffer find comfort and solace in the coming days, and that all who are joyful may rejoice in the new year.

We pray that those who have lost their way find a new path, and that those who have found theirs will continue to follow it with faith.

We pray that we can be better people this coming year than we were last year—that we can be better friends, better partners, better parents and children; that our lives can be a blessing to others.

And finally, we pray for our loved ones: those who are near us but far away from us; those who are close by but far from our hearts; those who have gone before us into the unknown; those who remain behind us on this earthly plane but live only in our memories. May they all feel your love surrounding them wherever they are on this day or any other day of this new year—and always.

Dear Lord,

I come to you today to ask for your guidance and protection as we enter the year 2020. I ask that you help me to be more accepting of others, and that you give me the strength to be true to myself. Help me to remember that my worth is not determined by how many likes I get on social media or how many messages I receive from people who are just trying to get something from me. Help me to remember that my relationship with You is what matters most, and that no matter what happens in the coming year, You will always be there for me.

In Your name, amen

God, please help me to do your will this year. I want to be a better person, and I know that you can help me with that. Please let me be kind and patient, and give me wisdom in all things. Help me to be a good example for those around me, so that they can see the example of Christ in me.

I pray for peace in our country, and in the world at large. Let us all come together as one people under God, to show love and understanding to one another. Let us look beyond differences of race or religion or nationality and see only our common humanity, so that we might be united as brothers and sisters through Christ.

Help me to be grateful for everything you have provided for me this year: my family, my friends, my health… Please help me to remember these things when times are tough. Give me strength when life gets hard; help me not to lose hope when everything seems hopeless.

And finally, please guide my path so that I may do your will this year—and every day thereafter—until we meet again at last on the other side of eternity where there is no more pain or sorrow but only joy forevermore!
