Catholic prayer for 911

Catholic prayer for 911: We are shocked and saddened by the events of 911. We are heartbroken over the death and destruction that has occurred in New York City, Washington D.C., and Pennsylvania.

We have learned a lot about what caused this tragedy, but we still don’t know why. We pray for those who were lost, for their families and friends, and for all of those who are suffering from this terrible event. Our hearts go out to them all as they try to cope with their grief.

We want to thank God for being there for us during this difficult time. We also want to thank Him for giving us strength and courage through these trying times so that we can continue on with our lives without fear or despair; instead filled with hope for a better future for all mankind!

At this time of year, we are all thinking about the lives lost in the 9/11 attacks and the families who were left to pick up the pieces. In addition to our prayers for those families, we pray for peace and unity in our country. Our passion for prayer has not diminished over the years, but if anything it has grown stronger as we continue to see how much God loves us and how much He wants us to love Him back. We believe that prayer is one of the most important things you can do in your life and that it can change everything—even things that seem impossible.

Catholic prayer for 911

Introduction

Dear God, Lord of heaven and earth, I pray to You for all those who are in danger as a result of the terrorist attacks on this day.

Look with mercy on Your children as they face uncertainty, fear and loss. Comfort them, be near to them in their time of need. Lead us from the darkness of this moment into Your everlasting light.

May we continue to work for peace among all people by improving our communities and nation through active citizenship, service and peacemaking efforts so that no other innocent lives will be lost as a result of hatred or violence. Amen

Eternal Father, I offer You the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your dearly beloved Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.

You can pray this prayer for your own intentions, or you can add it to the end of any novena that is already in progress. This way, you’ll have an extra set of powerful prayers on your side as you work toward your goal.

Note: If you’ve never done a novena before, don’t worry! It’s actually quite simple to do—and its benefits are immeasurable. All it takes are nine days of prayer and asking for what we want from God.
