Billy Graham Prayer For Our Nation

Billy Graham Prayer For Our Nation: Dear God,

We need your help! Our nation is in crisis. We have lost our way and are sinking fast. We see the world falling apart around us and we feel powerless to stop it. It’s hard to believe that you love us as much as you do, when everything seems so out of control.

We pray for revival in our country. We pray for a return to common sense and morality in Washington DC. We pray for an end to corruption and greed, and for politicians who will put America first instead of their own interests. We pray for men and women who will stand up for what is right—even if it means standing alone—and who will defend the values on which our country was founded without fear or favoritism toward any party or politician. We beg you to give us leaders who will promote unity among all Americans, especially those who are most in need of protection from those who would seek to use them as scapegoats or pawns in their political gamesmanship.

In Jesus’ name we pray…

Billy Graham Prayer For Our Nation

Introduction

We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment. Search us, oh God, and know our hearts today; cleanse us from every sin and set us free. Guide and bless these men and women who have been sent to direct us to the center of Your will. I ask it in the name of Your Son, The Lord Jesus Christ. Amen

Since 1952, Billy Graham has traveled the country, speaking at various events and rallies. Graham has prayed for many Americans like you and me during his ministry. Here is a prayer for our nation:

Since 1952, Billy Graham has traveled the country, speaking at various events and rallies. Graham has prayed for many Americans like you and me during his ministry. Here is a prayer for our nation:

  • Lord, hear our prayers. We ask that You guide us as we consider Your Word together this morning. I pray that You will help us to understand how important it is to keep Your commandments so that we can walk with You all of our days in this life and in eternity hereafter at the right hand of God with Jesus Christ where there is joy without end! Amen.*

Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask your forgiveness and to seek your direction and guidance. We know Your Word says, “Woe to those who call evil good,” but that is exactly what we have done.

Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask your forgiveness and to seek your direction and guidance. We know Your Word says, “Woe to those who call evil good,” but that is exactly what we have done. We have turned our backs on You and on Your ways.

We have sought to be our own god, thinking we know better than You how to run the world we live in—and it has not gone well at all. It did not go well through Adam and Eve or Noah’s time or Sodom and Gomorrah or Egypt during slavery or Rome under Caesar Augustus or Germany with Hitler’s regime…the list goes on. And now here we are again in this very moment—witnessing a nation that has lost its way as it disregards Your laws and seeks its own way of life rather than honoring You as the Creator of all things good!

We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values. We confess that:

  • We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values.
  • We confess that we have trampled on the blood of Jesus Christ by straying from Him.
  • We have betrayed, stolen, and murdered the character of God by our sin.
  • We have disrespected family authority because we do not fear God enough to obey Him.
  • We are guilty of thinking too highly of ourselves as well as doubting His sovereignty over every area of life including our own homes!

We have ridiculed the absolute truth of Your Word and called it pluralism;

We have ridiculed the absolute truth of Your Word and called it pluralism;

We have worshipped at the altar of tolerance, but not practiced it;

We have exalted ourselves as being tolerant of others’ beliefs and practices, but not so much ourselves.

We have worshipped other gods and called it multi-culturalism;

We have worshipped other gods and called it multi-culturalism. We have endorsed perversion and called it an alternative lifestyle.

We have slain our unborn and called it choice. We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable.

We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self-esteem. We have abused power and called it political savvy, thinking that God’s blessing was with us without any consideration of His will or ways.”

We have endorsed perversion and called it an alternative lifestyle;

In the Billy Graham Prayer For Our Nation, he says that we have endorsed perversion and called it an alternative lifestyle.

What is an alternative lifestyle? It is a way of life that deviates from what is considered orthodox or conventional, especially in social attitudes and political opinion. This billy graham prayer for country explains how this alternative lifestyle has become a problem in our country.

In order to solve this problem, we need to understand why the billy graham prayer for country was written. The billy graham prayer for country was written because World War II had just ended and there were many changes happening around the world at that time such as: women getting jobs outside their homes; racial segregation becoming illegal; gay marriage becoming legal across America; etc…

We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery;

We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery.

We have speculated in stocks and called it business.

We have turned our stock market into a casino and our businessmen into gamblers.

We are spending billions to fight poverty, but we are not willing to tax ourselves so that we can help those who spend their lives trying to escape from poverty.

We have neglected the needy and called it self-preservation;

We have neglected the needy and called it self-preservation; we have allowed our roads to crumble and called it economic necessity.

Yet, the rich have many ways to protect their wealth and the poor have none with which to protect themselves from destruction.

They will not be saved from their enemies, but you can save them from themselves in that they are creating within themselves an enemy that is destroying them without any help at all from outside of them.

We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare;

We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare.

We have produced generations of people who think that the Government owes them a living.

All of this has led to an attitude of selfishness, self-centeredness, and self-indulgence.

We have killed our unborn and called it choice;

We have killed our unborn and called it choice; we have ridiculed the principles of God’s Word and called it enlightenment; we have substituted political correctness for morals; we have polluted God’s beautiful Earth and called it progress.

It is time to repent, America!

We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable;

We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable;

We have blown up clinics and called it a holy war;

We have burned down churches and called it an act of faith;

And we have murdered doctors in the name of sanctity.

We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self-esteem;

We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self-esteem. We have applauded their selfishness as if it were a sign of maturity. We have told them that they are no better or no worse than anyone else, when in fact they are unique creations of God with specific gifts and abilities to be developed by us—their parents and teachers. As a result, we have raised an entire generation that has never experienced appropriate consequences for bad behavior, who have no concept of responsibility, who believe they are invincible and can do whatever they want without having to account for their actions.

We tell our children that everything around them is theirs for the taking: “Go ahead,” we say. “Take any toy from the shelf at Toys R Us.” And so they do! They take toys without asking permission; they take more than one toy each time; sometimes even two or three times just because we don’t say anything about it after the first time (which would be considered rude). Or perhaps you’ve seen this scenario happen in real life? Kids take things because nobody taught them not to!

In order for children’s self-esteem not just survive but thrive past childhood into adulthood there must be boundaries set up early on—boundaries which teach respect not only toward those around us but also toward ourselves as well

We have abused power and called it political savvy;

We have abused power and called it political savvy.

We have exploited others, and called it economic opportunity.

We have neglected the needy, and called it a tough economy.

We have abandoned our principles, and called it pragmatism.

We have coveted our neighbor’s possessions and called it ambition;

Covetousness is a sin. It’s a form of idolatry, because it places something other than God at the center of one’s life. Covetousness is also theft, greed, lust and gluttony rolled into one. It can be seen in all sorts of ways: when we get jealous over our neighbor’s possessions; when we scheme to get rich on someone else’s dime; or when we hoard resources instead of using them for everyone’s benefit.

In order for us to have unity as a nation, each person must forsake their own desires in favor of what God has planned for us all—no matter how lofty or humble they may seem compared with your own plans!

We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression;

We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography, and called it freedom of expression. We have neglected the poor, and called it self-preservation. We have rewarded laziness, and called it welfare. We have killed our unborn, and called it choice.

In this moment when our nation needs God’s help most urgently—when we suffer from a spiritual deficit that has brought us to our knees—I believe that a revival of prayer will be God’s answer to us as individuals, to America as a nation and certainly to the world at large!

Conclusion

Most of all, we have sinned against You and called it tolerance.
