Bible verses about judgement of others

Judgment is a subject that has been debated for generations and is a subject that the Bible is replete with verses concerning.

In a nutshell, the Bible asserts that while God does not judge us, everyone of us bears responsibility for our own deeds and will be held accountable for them. God, however, does pass judgment on others. Jesus even made it clear that we should follow his advice: “Do not judge others so that you will not be judged.

The Bible also tells us not to judge superficially, as in an outward appearance or behavior. Rather we should look at the heart (or spirit) of the person because it is what truly matters.

The Bible has a lot to say about judging others:

“Judge not, that ye be not judged.” (Matthew 7:1)

“But who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To his own master he stands or falls.” (Romans 14:4)

“Stop judging by mere appearances, and make a right judgment.” (John 7:24)

“Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.” -Matthew 7:1-2

“And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.” -Luke 6:41-42

1 Corinthians 2:15-16

But he who is spiritual appraises all things, yet he himself is appraised by no one. For who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.

Romans 14:4-5

One person believes he may eat anything, while the weak person eats only vegetables. Let not the one who eats despise the one who abstains, and let not the one who abstains pass judgment on the one who eats; for God has welcomed him.

2 Corinthians 5:10

For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may be recompensed for his deeds in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or evil.

“Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.”
