Bible verses about in laws

The Bible doesn’t really have a lot of verses about in-laws.

But it does have a lot of verses about family and marriage, which is where your in-laws come into play.

One verse that’s particularly relevant is from the book of Ephesians: “Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.” This verse teaches that we should submit to one another, even if we don’t like what our partner does or how they act. It also says that we should submit to our parents, because they are supposed to be authority figures in our lives until we’re grown up enough to have our own families and make our own decisions.

  1. Deuteronomy 25:5

“If brothers are living together and one of them dies without a son, his widow must not marry outside the family. Her husband’s brother shall take her and marry her and fulfill the duty of a brother-in-law to her.”

The Lord said to Moses, “Speak to the Israelites and say to them: ‘If a man’s wife goes astray and is unfaithful to him so that another man has sexual relations with her, and this is hidden from her husband and her impurity is undetected (since there is no witness against her and she has not been caught in the act),

  1. “Do not deprive each other except by mutual consent and for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer. Then come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.” – 1 Corinthians 7:5
  2. “Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.” – Ephesians 5:22–24
  3. Genesis 20:12-13

And he said, Behold now, I know that thou art a fair woman to look upon: therefore it shall come to pass, when the LORD shall have done to my lord according to all the good that he hath spoken concerning thee, and shall have appointed thee ruler over Egypt, that thou shalt say, I pray thee, unto me, not deny me in any wise this grace of divination: for then will I not go out from thee. And he said, I will do as thou hast said.
