Bible history of the Old Testament

The Bible is a book written by many authors over a period of 1500 years. It includes 66 books, written in three different languages: Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek. The Old Testament is the first part of the Bible and contains 39 books, while the New Testament is the second part and contains 27 books.

The first five books of the Old Testament are known as the Pentateuch (meaning “five scrolls”). These five books were written by Moses between 1400 and 1200 BC.

The next 39 books are known as the historical books because they record events that happened during this time period. They include Joshua, Judges, Ruth, 1 & 2 Samuel, 1 & 2 Kings, 1 & 2 Chronicles, Ezra & Nehemiah, Esther, Job & Psalms (Psalms).

These are followed by poetic books such as Job; Proverbs; Ecclesiastes; Song of Solomon; Lamentations; Isaiah; Jeremiah; Ezekiel; Daniel; Hosea; Joel; Amos; Obadiah; Jonah
