A Prayer For Strength After Death

A Prayer For Strength After Death: I don’t know about you, but sometimes it’s difficult for me to keep from feeling like I’m drowning. Although that seems dramatic and perhaps even melodramatic, I’m being serious. I feel like my modest life is simply… so insignificant in comparison to the vastness of the globe. I have always been a quiet person. I’m not the kind of person who enjoys being around a lot of people or who enjoys being the focus of attention. Small groups are my favorite since they allow us to all get to know one another and have meaningful talks rather than idle small talk.

Yet here we are, in this often absurdly large globe, and everything changes when we pass away. As a result of losing our physical bodies, we transform from being a member of a group of people to something altogether different that is both more than any one individual could ever be alone and smaller than what we were before (or does that make sense?).

A Prayer For Strength After Death

Dear Lord,

Dear Lord,

It is with deepest sympathy that I write to you in this moment.

While it may seem like an insignificant event to some, the loss of a loved one can be devastating for those who are left behind.

For myself, as well as others close to me, this experience has been difficult beyond description.

I humbly ask that you give us strength and comfort during these dark times.

I come to You today,

I come to You today, God, on bended knee. I need strength and courage for the days ahead.

I know You hear me when I pray, because You have answered my prayers in the past. In fact, you have always answered my prayers in Your own time and way—and it has always been for my good! So I trust that You will answer this prayer for strength after death as well.

You are always with us—even when we don’t feel Your presence or see evidence of Your hand at work in our lives. And even though we may not understand why something happened the way that it did (such as when someone dies), we can take comfort knowing that nothing happens without your knowledge or approval—and nothing can happen outside of your control.

My heart is heavy with grief.

My heart is heavy with grief. The pain of losing someone you love—your husband, your wife, your child—is unbearable. It’s like nothing you’ve ever felt before. You feel empty and alone in a way that no one else could possibly understand.

But there are those who do understand: the other people who have walked this path before us and survived it; God himself; our Savior Jesus Christ. I hope that these words will help you find comfort in their simple message: “I am here for you every step of the way on your journey through sorrow and death to peace and rest at last.”

I come to You seeking Your peace,

I come to You seeking Your peace, Lord. I am in a place where I need comfort and strength, and I am asking for help. Please give me the strength to forgive those who have hurt me so much. Without Your forgiveness to carry us through these times of heartache, we cannot move forward with our lives. We need Your grace and mercy if we are going to find peace in this world again.

and asking for Your strength and comfort.

  • Ask God for the strength and comfort you need during this difficult time.
  • Ask God to bring peace, both in your mind and heart.
  • Pray for your family as well; let them know that you will be there for them if they need anything from you.

My heart is filled with sadness and sorrow for all that I have lost,

  • You feel a sharp pain in your chest, like someone is squeezing your heart with their hands.
  • You are unable to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
  • You feel like you have lost a part of yourself and there is no way to get it back.
  • It feels as though you are going crazy, like nothing makes sense anymore and everything is just happening in slow motion around you.
  • It feels as though this nightmare will never end and that there will be no relief from its effects on your life or mind for some time to come.

but I know that You are the God who comforts those who mourn.

But I know that You are the God who comforts those who mourn.

You are faithful and strong, always present and sovereign over all creation. Your grace is sufficient for me, even when the weight of this grief feels like too much to bear. I am surrounded by your love and held in your hands. I can rest in you knowing that everything will be okay.

I ask You to fill me now with Your peace and strength.

I ask You to fill me now with Your peace and strength.

I need Your help to get through the rest of this week, knowing that my friend has passed away.

Let your presence comfort and guide those who are grieving for him or her.

Comfort my heart today in a very special way.

God, I know you see the hurt in my heart. You are the God who heals all things and takes away the pain. Please comfort me today in a very special way. I ask you to heal my heart and give me strength for whatever comes next. Help me find peace and comfort in your promise that you have prepared a place for me with Jesus where there is no hurt or sorrow but only joy forevermore.

Help me to heal from the hurts of this loss.

  • Help me to let go of my pain and sadness.
  • Help me to heal from the hurts of this loss.
  • Help me to know that You are with me.
  • Help me to feel Your peace and comfort.
  • Help me to know that I am not alone.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

We thank you Lord for your presence with us today. We remember our loved one and thank you for the gift of their life and presence in our lives. We know that they are now safe in your arms where there is no pain or sorrow, only peace and joy forevermore. As we grieve their passing, help us to follow after them as we seek to follow in your ways so that someday we may see our loved ones again here on earth or in heaven with you. In Jesus’ Name we pray, Amen
